Canadian Anglicans Support Same-Sex Marriages

Conservative members of the global Anglican church received another blow late last week when the Ottawa branch of the Anglican Church of Canada voted to authorize the blessing of same-sex marriages. The Ottawa diocese voted 177 to 97 on Saturday to ask Bishop John Chapman to allow clergy 'to bless duly solemnized and registered civil marriages between same-sex couples, where at least one party is baptized.'

Doctors Acquitted on Charges of Infecting Thousands with HIV

Monday morning, a judge acquitted four doctors, a New Jersey company and a former Red Cross official of criminal charges steaming from a blood scandal in the 1990’s. Because of improper screening, over 20,000 Canadians were infected with the Hepatitis C and HIV virus from a controversial medical blood product.

Calgary Gets a Gay Face Lift with OutGames

Gay sports is taking hold in a big way, and the number of events dedicated to providing the opportunity for gay athletes to prove their skills is constantly growing. This year the GLISA which organized the first ever world OutGames in Montreal in 2006 have created a new venue that is of a smaller scale so that athletes would not have to wait until Copenhagen in 2009.

Canada Sends an Open 'Wedding Invitation' to Gay and Lesbian Couples
The Canadian Tourism Commission has launched a new gay and lesbian advertising campaign on with a destination wedding invitation for U.S. same-sex couples. Marriage is a significant indicator of the hospitality in store for gay and lesbian visitors whether they are drawn to the country by wedding bells, fine dining, some of the biggest parties and festivals in the world, or world-class skiing and outdoor experiences.
